Just another "letter of the week" book list! I couldn't find anything
else that quite fit what I was looking for so I'm saving my lists and
observations for use in the future. This is compiled from several sites
on the internet and my own browsing at the library. Tops picks are based
on the interest of a 2.5 year old. My top picks have significant
repetition of the letter sound and hold a toddler's attention.
The regulars:
My V Book, Jane Belk Moncure
Vv, Kelly Doudna
Top picks:
A Violin for Elva, Mary Lyn Ray
Click, Clack, Moo, I Love You, Doreen Cronin,
I Eat Vegetables, Hannah Tofts, Not a lot of V sounds, but we enjoyed this book a lot!
The Very Bust Spider, Eric Carle
Mole Music, David McPhail
The Pear Violin, Bingbo
Books Other Children May Enjoy:
Dear Katie, The Volcano is a Girl, Jean Craighead George, A bit long, try with older children.
What I don't recommend:
The Very Lonely Firefly, Eric Carle, This was on a lot of letter V lists, but it would be a MUCH better book for the letter F.
Zin Zin Zin A violin, Lloyd Moss, This is much better for teaching instruments, not the letter v.
The Unexpected Love Story of Alfred Fiddleduckling, Timothy Basil Ering, A Very lovely story, but no letter Vs.
Growing Vegetable Soup, Lois Ehlert This is a really neat book about vegetable gardening!
What I couldn't find (but would look for in the future):
Cook, My Mouth is a Volcano
Cooper, Whose Vehicle is This
Curtis, The Bat Boy and His Violin
Ernst, This is the Van that Dad Cleaned
Kroll, The Biggest Valentine Ever
Lin, The Ugly Violin
Randall, Lets Talk about Vehicles
Stevens, Tops and Bottoms
Shelly-Admont, I Love to Eat Fruits and Vegetables
Thiesling, The Viper
Thomas, Rhyming Dust Bunnies
Saltzman, What in the World in a Violin
Gibbons, The Vegetables We Eat
