Just another "letter of the week" book list! I couldn't find anything
else that quite fit what I was looking for so I'm saving my lists and
observations for use in the future. This is compiled from several sites
on the internet and my own browsing at the library. Tops picks are based
on the interest of a 2.5 year old. My top picks have significant repetition of the letter sound and hold a toddler's attention.
The regulars:
My P Book, Jane Belk Moncure
Pp, Kelly Doudna
Top picks:
Little Pea, Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Pancakes, Pancakes!, Eric Carle This book may have too many words for some toddlers, but it was a big hit here.
Peedie, Oliver Dunrea
The Paperboy, Dav Pilkey
Piggy Pie Po, Audrey & Don Wood, Super silly, but we really enjoyed it.
Pinkalicious, Victoria and Elizabeth Kann,
The Pigeon Wants a Puppy, Mo Willems, I'm not usually crazy about Mo Willems books, but this was clever.
Penguin and Pumpkin, Salina Yoon
The Pout Pout Fish, Diesen
Books Other Children May Enjoy:
Each Peach Pear Plum, Janet and Allan Ahlberg, This is a fun book if you are more familiar with fairy tales than my toddler is.
Thank You, Mr. Panda, Steve Antony
What I don't recommend:
Pippa at the Parade, Karen Roosa, This was a good book for introducing a what a parade was, but didn't include much of the "p" sound.
Pig and Pug, Lynne Berry, There was many, many "p" words on each page, but this book was so hard to follow. It may be easier with older children when you can take in the book more slowly. I imagine a certain sense of humor may like this book better than I did!
